Since this one kind of popped into my head with mixed verses (a few in English here, a few in Italian there) but had to be conveyed necessarily in Italian, I thought it was only fair to give it a shot in English as well :D
And so I have made the same for my other poems...... but that's another story
Do you know how that shines?
It’s like a blinding, sunny afternoon
Free to be like when I was a child
Like keeping my heart warm and safe
Raising my eyes to the sky in exasperation
And finding it blue, intense,
Clear and infinite
And you feel you can see for miles
Even without a plan or a project
It’s a cigarette flickering
In the dark, warm night
Out of the car
With no lights all around
Without being able to see your face
But knowing it’s there.
It’s trying and failing
And your heart keeps going a thousand miles per hour
No matter what
Quella Notte
Sai come risplende?
Come un pomeriggio di sole accecante,
libera di essere come quando ero bambina,
come avere il cuore al caldo,
alzare gli occhi al cielo per l’esasperazione…
e trovarlo azzurro, intenso,
pulito e altissimo
che pensi di poter vedere per miglia
ma senza un piano o un progetto.
E’ una sigaretta che brilla
nella notte tiepida e buia,
fuori dalla macchina
senza alcuna luce in giro,
senza poter vedere il tuo viso
e sapere che c’è.
E’ aver provato e fallito
Ed il cuore che continua ad andare a duemila,
nonostante tutto.
